Inmate stabbed to death at Lawton prison

Authorities say an inmate at the Lawton Correctional Facility died after he was stabbed.

Authorities tell the Lawton Constitution ( ) that the victim was a 25-year-old man. Police Capt. Wade Shaw says authorities are still investigating the stabbing to determine what happened.

Police and medical responders were called to the prison shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday on a report of a man who’d been stabbed in both wrists and the head. The man was taken to a hospital where he died.

Shaw says the stabbing happened inside one of the prison pods. He wouldn’t speculate on what type of weapon was used.

The inmate’s name has not yet been released, pending notification of his family.
