Inmate Charged with Assaulting Officer in Mason City

A man being held on a burglary charge at the Cerro Gordo County jail in Mason City faces additional charges after authorities say he attacked a correctional officer.

The Globe Gazette in Mason City says 56-year-old Dean Huse is charged with assault on an officer. Sheriff Kevin Pals says Huse attacked Officer Aaron Beaver Sunday morning. Pals says Beaver suffered minor injuries but didn’t require medical treatment.

Huse is awaiting a court appearance for second-degree burglary and two counts of violating a no-contact order.

The assault case isn’t listed on the online court system, and it’s not known if he has an attorney on that charge.
