Inmate attacks, injures officer

FORT MADISON – An offender housed at the Clinical Care Unit in Fort Madison attacked two correctional officers at about 9:50 a.m. Wednesday in the recreation area of the pod.

Bradley A. Woods, 23, serving a 22-year sentence for multiple counts of first-degree robbery out of Black Hawk County, turned and attacked officers as they were attempting to place him in restraints.

The officers signaled the alarm and subdued the offender with assistance of additional staff.

After the incident, the officers were taken to the Fort Madison Community Hospital where their injuries were treated and they were released.

The Clinical Care Unit remains in restricted movement status pending review of the incident.
