Inmate accused of hitting 2 officers at OCCC

A 24-year-old Halawa Correctional Facility inmate is accused of striking two corrections officers while he was being held at Oahu Community Correctional Center last year.

Police said the Halawa inmate faces second-degree assault charges for striking a 40-year-old and a 29-year-old corrections officers at the Kalihi prison facility on Nov. 21, 2011. Neither officer suffered major injuries, police said.

The suspect was transferred to Halawa two days after the Nov. 21 incident. He was at the Kalihi facility awaiting trial on offenses, including second-degree murder, terroristic threating, and firearms and illegal drug charges beginning in 2009.
