Tour To Visit 12 Regional Correctional Facilities from Now Through November Teaching Officer Survival Skills
WOOLRICH, PA. (February 18, 2009) - Joseph Garcia, Senior Team Leader (STL) of the United States Corrections Special Operations Group SDU-1 (US C-SOG) and leader of 2009 Woolrich Elite Series Tactical’s CorSpecOps Extreme North American Tour, was recently recognized as Her Majesty’s Prison Service (HMPS) Official Subject Matter Expert for the HMPS’ National Tactical Response Group (NTRG) in the United Kingdom. Garcia was inducted into the Society of National Instructors and recognized as an official instructor for the National Tactical Response Group. The first American to be awarded these honors, he was also recognized as the Unit’s Hostage Rescue and Prison Less Lethal Tactical Specialist and Trainer.
With Garcia’s leadership, the CorSpecOps Extreme North American Tour will visit 12 correctional agencies training over 20,000 officers in areas including officer survival, tactical firearms, and high inmate risk transport, among others. The cornerstone of the tour will be a custom 40-ft. rapid deployment trailer equipped with state-of-the-art technology and equipment including satellite communications, munitions, body armor, medical triage kits and ballistic shields, part of over 150 components necessary for this specialized training.

Garcia’s team of accomplished trainers has developed a program that is one to two days, depending on the size of the corrections agency and facility, which must meet certain criteria in order to be chosen as a stop on the tour. The session includes video, visual aids, one-on-one coaching and drills designed to give corrections officers the tools they need to survive any dynamic situation from a hostage takeover to a minor skirmish.
