RCMP in Newfoundland and Labrador are conducting a manhunt after an inmate at the Marystown lockup escaped custody on the weekend.

The Mounties say Andrew Kenneth Parsons, 35, faces a number of serious charges but is not considered a threat to the public.

Parsons is described as medium build and is clean shaven with brown hair.

He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a shirt with white, black, and dark blue horizontal stripes.

Police also say Parsons is known to use several aliases, including Jason Stanley Stewart, Stanley Stewart, and Andrew Patterson.

Police suspect Parsons has fled to the Grand Bank area and may also attempt to leave the province.
