Teen charged with assaulting officer at Ulster jail
A 17-year-old was charged with assault while incarcerated at the Ulster County Jail on Thursday.
David Orta, of the Bronx, struck an officer in the head, according to Ulster County Sheriff's Office police.
“He struck an corrections officer on the side of his head when he was trying to secure him in his cell,” Sgt. George Goodwin said.
Orta was charged with second degree assault, a felony. The Bronx teen was already serving time on a separate assault charge.
Orta was arraigned in the City of Kingston Court and sent back to Ulster County Jail on $5,000 cash bail and $10,000 bond.
